HEART SIGNS & SIGNALS

What do you need right now? Hands are intimate, delicate and the true messengers of the heart.

This series of paintings explores that quiet tenderness right beside the bold colours. I chose the title Heart Signs and Signals because so often, when we aren't listening to our hearts, our minds tend to take over and dominate. When that happens, I imagine my heart finding another way to speak to me, sending signals of care directly through my body and in particular, through my hands. It forces me to pause and ask: look, what are my hands doing? What are my fingers doing? Are they cold or hot?

Each piece in this collection connects to a fundamental element, guided by Adinkra symbols and cosmic energies:
