LONG TERM CARE
Long-Term Care for Original Works
Preserving the Glow To ensure the "liquid warmth" and vibrant pigments of your painting remain as vivid as the day they left my studio, please follow these archival care guidelines:
-
Light & Environment: While I use professional-grade acrylics with high lightfastness, no pigment is entirely immune to the sun’s power. Display your piece in a space with indirect light. Avoid hanging it directly opposite a south-facing window or under harsh halogen bulbs, which can cause "micro-fading" over decades.
-
Temperature & Humidity: Canvas is sensitive to extreme fluctuations. To prevent damage avoid hanging the work in high-moisture areas like bathrooms or directly above a high-heat radiator. A stable, room-temperature environment is the "sweet spot" for your art’s longevity.
-
The Breath of the Surface: My work often features built-up textures and "calcified" layers. These should never be cleaned with water, damp cloths, or chemical sprays, which can seep into the pores of the paint. If dust settles, simply use a clean, dry, soft-bristled brush (like a dedicated make-up brush or a soft duster) to gently whisk it away.
-
Framing for Protection: For canvas boards, I highly recommend "Reversed Box" or "Floater" frames. This keeps the glass from touching the actual surface of the paint, allowing the textures to breathe while protecting the edges of the board from physical wear.
